The Business Review

In five years, will your community be competitive?

That's the question posed in a conference scheduled for March 18-19 at the University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering located at the Albany NanoTech complex.

The event, "New York 2013: Will Your Community Be Competitive?" is sponsored by the New York State Economic Development Council and the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR).

Brian McMahon, president of the New York State Economic Development Council, said one of the goals of the conference is to inform attendees about what companies in the region are doing to adapt to remain competitive.

Speakers include: Dan Gundersen, Empire State Development Corp.'s upstate chair; Nick Donofrio, IBM executive vice president; Charles Craig, Corning Inc. vice president; Alain Kaloyeros, UAlbany's NanoCollege vice president and chief administrative officer; Anthony DiMaso, Verizon Communications vice president; Ed Reinfurt, NYSTAR's executive director; and Anthony Collins, president of Clarkson University.

For more information, contact McMahon at 426-4058.
