to changing global economy subject of upcoming conference

five years, will your community be competitive? That's
the question posed in a conference scheduled for March 18-19 at the University
at Albany's College
of Nanoscale Science and Engineering located at the Albany
NanoTech complex. The
event, "New York 2013: Will Your Community Be Competitive?" is
sponsored by the New York State Economic Development Council and the New
York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR).
Brian
McMahon, president of the New York State Economic Development Council,
said one of the goals of the conference is to inform attendees about what
companies in the region are doing to adapt to remain competitive. Speakers
include: Dan Gundersen, Empire State Development Corp.'s upstate chair;
Nick Donofrio, IBM
executive vice president; Charles Craig, Corning
Inc. vice president; Alain Kaloyeros, UAlbany's
NanoCollege vice president and chief administrative officer; Anthony
DiMaso, Verizon
Communications vice president; Ed Reinfurt, NYSTAR's
executive director; and Anthony Collins, president of Clarkson
