The

Plug
Power Inc. has sold more GenDrive fuel cells to
Bridgestone/Firestone to power forklifts.
Plug
(Nasdaq: PLUG), based in Latham, said Bridgestone/Firestone North American
Tire LLC is converting 22 forklifts to the GenDrive system this year at
its Aiken County, S.C. plant. It is Bridgestone's fifth order. Plug
delivered its first units in early 2006. The fuel cells are replacing
lead-acid batteries.
Details
of the deal were not disclosed.
"The
fuel cells are a direct replacement that last longer than batteries, take
less time to change or refuel and only emit water vapor," said Mike
Rose, Bridgestone/Firestone's plant manager. The plant produces both
passenger and light truck tires.
